PMP Qualifications

PMP Eligibility Criteria

teacher-clipart-ncE74e57iPlease note that the PMP certification is not domain-specific.  PMP Certification is a general credential for Project Management Professionals issued by the Project Management Institute (PMI).  We have summarized the PMP exam qualifications below, but be sure to check PMI’s website for any recent updates.

To apply for the PMP Certification Exam:

With a B.S. or equivalent four-year college degree

  • Minimum of 4,500 hours of personal project management experience (leading and directing projects) AND
  • Minimum of 35 hours of project management education and training (included with our PM Study courses).

With a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum of 7,500 hours of personal project management experience (leading and directing projects) AND
  • Minimum of 35 hours of project management education and training (included with our PM Study courses).

If you are a recent college graduate and do not yet have the work experience for PMP certification, you may be eligible for the CAPM certification.  Learn more here.

Where are the PMP exams conducted?

The PMP exam is computer-based and is offered at Prometric Testing Centers worldwide.  You can check for the nearest location on Prometric’s website (click here).  In order to schedule the PMP exam, you will need to have proper documentation from PMI indicating approval for you to take the exam.  The PMP exam is four (4) hours and consists of 200 questions.
